Naomi & Benny
A Secret Elopement At Kimo Estate, Gundagai
This was an elopement in the truest sense. Just two lovers, a celebrant and yours truly out in the middle of Country NSW. With clear blue skies and just a slight hint of a breeze it seemed that Naomi and Benny had planned the perfect way to wed. But this was far from what they originally had in mind.
Rewind to a few months earlier and my Skype call with the Paris-based couple was focused around a surprise wedding in Canberra.
But… Covid.
So plans were put on hold until a call just a few weeks ago asking if I might be available to head out to Gundagai for a Plan B elopement at Kimo Estate. In the heartbeat it took to double check my calendar my answer was a “Hell yes!” especially as the spectacular Kimo Estate was way up on my bucket list of places to shoot at.
With their celebrant friend Sally also declaring herself available there wasn’t much more to do except count down the days to what we already knew was going to be a most epic, yet intimate, gathering.
But even then, expectations were exceeded. Naomi surprised Benny with an outfit change just before the ceremony, while Benny returned the favour by selecting her entrance song. And on a personal note I was honoured to be one of their signing witnesses.
