An auspicious date started well with a glorious sunrise that made me leap excitedly out of bed, grab the camera and run out on to my east-facing balcony. After more than five years of living in Bondi Beach I haven't lost my enthusiasm for sunrises and I don't think I ever will.
However, I've also learnt that weather systems can change quickly along the coast so I hoped that the good weather would last as I started to prepare for the wedding of one of the sweetest couples ever.
I first met Tian and Gerald a few months earlier for their Love Session. I saw straight away how lovely they were and I knew I would love shooting their wedding.
The day started just north of the Harbour Bridge in St Leonards and Chatswood where Gerald and Tian were getting ready. Tian's entourage included two flower girls who provided a constant source of amusement! The boys then came round to meet the challenges posed by Tian's security detail of bridesmaids before Gerald was finally permitted to see his beautiful bride for the first time.
The ceremony was held at Christ Church in gorgeous Lavender Bay where the couple were joined by their super cute baby boy. The location photos taken across the road by the harbour and then over at Balmoral Beach. The sun had indeed decided to stay out so both locations were baking under fierce sunshine. Fortunately the service had been held in the morning so we were able to take our time at Balmoral and use the shade to keep cool.
The reception venue was Aqua Dining in Milsons Point, right next to Luna Park. The award-winning restaurant has spectacular views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House and on this night it also provided a VIP view of the swimming carnival in North Sydney Olympic Pool.
The evening was filled with joy and laughter and then the action moved to the outdoor dancefloor. As the night came to an end the newlyweds navigated a tunnel formed by the guests and left to start their new life together.
