SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS WEDDING: VILLY AND CHRISTIAN
In early December I headed down to the Southern Highlands for a wedding with a flavour more akin to the Scottish Highlands.
Villy and Christian were tying the knot in the small, sleepy village of Bundanoon, population 2,035. While the name is actually Aboriginal (meaning place of deep gullies), it is renamed one day a year to Brigadoon, welcomes 20,000 visitors, and hosts one of the largest Highland gatherings in the world!
The location for both the ceremony and reception was one of the couple's favourite escapes - Idle A Wile guesthouse, run by the ever so charming Neville and Stefan. Its cosy and pretty setting was perfect for the intimate gathering of just over 30 guests.
The weather on the drive down also had Scottish overtones i.e. torrential rain! Fortunately it cleared by the time the ceremony started, leaving the gardens smelling fresh and looking vibrant.
Villy, a keen latin and ballroom dancer, was given away by her two girl friends who were also accomplished dancers. And later on at the reception they majestically took the lead on the dancefloor.
