When December arrives in the southern hemisphere it means we're only halfway through wedding season, but it's still nice to end the calendar year with a special wedding. Debbie and Matt's was just that. We headed up to Byron Bay and deep into the beautiful hinterland to Deux Belettes, a spectacular 16th century-style French chateau that we'd been aching to visit for years. It exceeded expectations and so did Debbie and Matt's intimate wedding.
One of our most memorable moments was when Debbie announced, after her bridal waltz, that she had a special song she wanted to dance with her father to. She explained that when she was sixteen her father gave her a tape that included a track, Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle, that he said reminded him of Debbie and her two sisters. Debbie loved the song and knew it would be perfect for a father and daughter dance when her time came to wed. So for the next sixteen years Debbie diligently transitioned the song from tape to CD to mp3 so it would ready for this moment.
It was well worth the wait and a privilege to witness.
