Jodie & Rui

A Canberra Region Wedding At Brindabella Hills Winery

There are three words that appear the most when my couples describe their vision for their wedding day: “fun”, “relaxed” and “party” and Jodie and Rui’s wedding was definitely all three.

From the time I first met them I knew their big day would be awesome. Maybe it was the chemistry I sensed between the effervescent Jodie and the chilled Rui, but it could also have been because I pictured them running around in the chicken coop they mentioned they had at their home. Either way I felt an instant bond with them.

The big day started as it meant to go on, with fun and giggles as Jodie got ready with her girls and mum at Ovolo Nishi. Her Tom Ford “F*cking Fabulous” scent accurately summed up how she was feeling.

From there it was onwards and over the border to the gorgeous Brindabella Hills Winery with its stunning views across the Murrumbidgee River to the Brindabella mountain range. I arrived to find Rui settling his nerves with a cold schooner of one of the craft beers that had been specially brewed for the wedding.

As expected there were plenty of fun moments for the guests to enjoy during the ceremony and they then had ample time to enjoy the spectacular views while I took Jodie and Rui for a casual stroll around the vineyards.

The reception was less about formalities and more about partying. A brief speech by the newlyweds was followed by the cutting of their two cakes and a quick dance with their parents, and then the dancing kicked off with the always awesome White Tree Band ensuring that the dancefloor was always packed.

I’ve captured hundreds of dancefloors over the years and this one was definitely straight into the top ten. I’ll let the photos explain why.

A big thanks to Candice for helping me to capture this fantastic day.
